Inaugural Awards Ceremony 2023

In a celebration of skill, perseverance, and community spirit, Kuk Sool Won™ of Yeovil martial arts recently held its first-ever awards ceremony at the Quicksilver Mail Pub. The event brought together students, their families, and friends for an afternoon of recognition, socializing, and camaraderie.

The ceremony featured a diverse range of categories, emphasizing not only physical prowess but also mental fortitude and positive attitude. From “Best Etiquette” to “Overcoming Adversity,” each award highlighted the unique qualities that contribute to the well-rounded development of martial artists.

Among the standout students was George, named the December Student of the Month. George’s dedication and skill were not only acknowledged locally but also reached a global audience, with his photo featured in the prestigious 2024 World Kuk Sool Association’s calendar, distributed worldwide to all affiliated schools.

School owner, Stephen Runnacles said about the event “our martial arts community is more than just a school; it’s a family. We have siblings, parents, cousins, and whole families training together. This awards ceremony allowed us to come together, not just as students and instructors but as a tight-knit community supporting one another. We are grateful to the parents, families and students who continue to support our martial arts school.”

The venue, Quicksilver Mail Pub, played a pivotal role in the success of the event, providing a warm atmosphere and delicious food. Stephen Runnacles emphasized the importance of supporting local businesses, stating, “We’re not just a martial arts school; we’re part of the larger community. Hosting our event at a local establishment was a way for us to give back and strengthen those community bonds.”

As the event concluded, it was evident that this inaugural awards ceremony had not only honoured achievements but also solidified the sense of unity within the family of Kuk Sool Won™ of Yeovil martial arts. With plans to make this an annual tradition, the school looks forward to more opportunities to celebrate the growth and success of its talented students.
